After a very successful clothing swap this past week, the MCS Sustainability Committee is glad to continue its
Earth Day celebrations with two more events coming up shortly:
Zero Waste Workshop, Wednesday, April 24, at 6 p.m., MCS Library and community space
The Sustainability Committee will offer a full evening of activities, including:
a crash course on starting a zero-waste journey
practical demos (e.g. jam making, yoghurt making, mending and easy swaps)
and the clothing swap finale
A literature corner and an advocacy table will also be available, with the support of our partners from
It’s Easy Being Green, an Upper West Side non-profit organization.
Children are welcome to attend the entire workshop.

Parent-Led Forum (PLF) on racial, social and environmental Justice, Wednesday, May 1, at 6 p.m., MCS Library
A Parent-Led Forum (PLF) presented jointly by the Sustainability Committee and the Racial Justice Committee, will bring together amazing guest experts who will explore how the three pillars of the school, namely diversity, equity and inclusion, social justice & activism, as well as farm-based education & sustainability, intersect.
The presentations will put the spotlight on how children of color and of socially disadvantaged backgrounds are disproportionately impacted by environmental challenges. It will be followed by a Q&A, and attendees will be called to action.
