New York City Specialized High Schools (SHSAT Schools) provide students with accelerated academic programs. There are 9 specialized high schools throughout New York City; 8 of them require taking the SHSAT exam for a student to be considered for admission, and 1 of them requires submission of an audition or art portfolio.   • The Brooklyn Latin School (Brooklyn)
  • Queens High School for the Sciences at York College (Queens)
  • Staten Island Technical High School (Staten Island)
  • Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts* (Manhattan)
*Students apply to Fiorello LaGuardia High School for the Arts via an Audition process. Taking the SHSAT will not qualify a student for admission to LaGuardia. A student must complete an audition for a specific program at LaGuardia.
