Farm Festival 2021

Calling all MCS Parents!  Mark your calendars and roll up your sleeves! MCS Farm Festival --  featuring games, crafts, a farm market and live entertainment for the whole family - is back on West 85th Street on October 16 at 11:00 a.m.

What is the MCS Farm Festival?
The school’s most fun and beloved community event, MCS Farm Festival is also a critical annual fundraising effort that is staffed by parent volunteers (that’s you) and organized/led by 6-7s parents (that’s us).

What Does the MCS Farm Festival Support?
All revenue from Farm Festival is used to support annual operating expenses at MCS - including teacher salaries and benefits. One of the ways MCS underwrites its mission-based commitment to equity and diversity is through a sliding-scale tuition program which enables all MCS families to pay tuition based on their means and to educate their children as equal members of an economically, racially and culturally diverse community. Our commitment to this equity model means that we must raise more than 25% of the school’s annual operating budget from philanthropic gifts and fundraising events each year.

MCS Farm Festival 2021 will include:
  • A raffle with prizes that include a $1,966 cash, Apple iPad, Boogie Down Books Gift Box,  and a bountiful basket from MCS Farm!
  • An online auction featuring unique experiences and services, sports and entertainment, handmade items and more!
  • Live entertainment provided by MCS parents, alumni and community members
  • Games, rides and crafts for all ages
  • Farm fresh foods (including vegetables, preserves, breads and baked goods)

How you can support MCS Farm Festival 2021:
Please look out for more communications from our committee over the next few weeks.

MARKETPLACE
One of the most anticipated parts of Farm Festival is the Marketplace. This year’s Marketplace will include a Children's Boutique along with books and games. We are seeking in-kind donations from the entire MCS community!

WHAT KINDS OF ITEM ARE NEEDED FOR THE CHILDREN'S BOUTIQUE?
We are preferably looking for fall and winter items, including Halloween costumes. Please resist bringing items that are out-of-season. Farm gear will also welcome, including sleeping bags, rain boots, hiking boots, rain jackets, parkas, etc. All items must be clean and in good condition. Items with rips, stains or holes will not be accepted. Please refer to the list here for suggested items.
