Chris Purdy '80

Chris Purdy '80 is the president, CEO and board member of DKT International, a non-profit organization promoting family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention through social marketing in the developing world. According to DKT International's website, in 2018, the organization helped avert 13 million pregnancies, 32,000 maternal deaths, 10 million unsafe abortions and provided 45 million CYPs (Couple Years of Protection). Some of the impact they've made recently includes a commercial that "makes condoms fun in DRC", their first-ever ad featured within a dating app in the Philippines, and the promotion of World Vasectomy Day in Bogotá. He also published an article in Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters (SRHM) titled, "Pleasurable Sex as a Human Right: An Idea that has Happily caught up to its Constituents". Chris is the former president and CEO of Carafem. He was featured in the Huffington Post article, "How This D.C.-Area Clinic Wants To ‘De-Medicalize’ Abortion". Chris was also a recipient of the Living the Dream Mentor Award at MCS' Big Night Out! 2016 gala.
