Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action Round-up

Here are just a few highlights of the past week: 
  • Screening and Q&A with Yoruba Richen, one of the directors of The Rebellious Life of Rosa Parks
  • Reading and Q&A with Surya Bonaly, three-time figure skating World silver medalist and author of Fearless Heart
  • Book audits to determine if classroom libraries are reflective of the students represented
  • Math lessons centered on the fashion design of Diarra Bousso, a Senegalese math teacher and fashion designer who uses graphs to design fabric prints
  • Creation of fabric designs based on the geometry of Gee's Bend Quilts
  • Artistic depictions of courage, after reading about Ruby Bridges
  • Skits designed to educate fellow students on the BLM 13 principles
