Smita is a first generation immigrant, who has lived in three of the five NYC boroughs and now is happy to call Harlem her home where she lives with her husband Scott, two energetic children and MCS students Mia and Neel, and newly adopted cat Spartacus.
Smita spent 20 years as a management consultant at PwC solving complex problems for her for profit clients and is excited to bring her expertise to further the mission of MCS. Smita recently changed roles to “walk in the shoes” of her former clients and currently oversees Privacy and Digital Service compliance at Sterling National Bank.
Smita feels fortunate that her family went through the MCS admissions process at the East 96th street location and is thankful for the promise of the doubled school at West 85th street. As a parent to the school who travelled frequently for work, serving as class rep for 5/6’s then 6/7s, and as a Committee chair for Farm Festival was integral to her making lasting connections within the school community. Smita serves as a member of the Finance Committee on the Board of Trustees.
What is your favorite MCS Memory?
There are so many to pick from! The 6/7s community sing, MCS 50th anniversary dance party in the school gym with DJ Stretch, and the farm to table dinner in the gym with a beautiful vegetarian meal where I could bring my mother are all favorites.
