Black Lives Matter in Schools Week of Action

Students kicked off Black History Month and the Black Lives Matter in Schools Week of Action with @chrisemdin, who spoke about Black people not just existing, but flourishing

Dr. Emdin highlighted the creativity and resilience Black communities have used to push beyond oppression, drawing on powerful examples from science, hip hop, Pan-Africanism, math, and sports.

He emphasized the importance of acknowledging the full scope of Black experiences and how critical it is to see Black people’s multifaceted contributions to the world.

As students of a historic institution—home to one of the most racially and socioeconomically diverse student and teacher bodies in the nation—Dr. Emdin reminded our students that they are living history, embodying Dr. King’s dream and becoming activists for change.
