Ben Jacoff
Trustee
Ben is the parent of two current MCS students, but his admiration for MCS began nearly a decade ago when he had the opportunity to spend three months as a student teacher in the 8-9's. During that time, Ben led a small reading group on The Trumpet of the Swan, taught math, and spent a blissful week up at the Farm.
During the school year, Ben teaches fourth grade at The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine, where he was recently voted Teacher of the Year. Although he likes teaching all subjects, he most enjoys teaching reading because analysing literature with students provides space for so many deep, meaningful conversations. During the summer, Ben works at rustic summer camp in rural Vermont where he spends his time training and managing staff, taking campers canoeing, and enjoying time outside of the city.
Ben is honored to join the MCS board at this pivotal time. He looks forward to bringing his passion for progressive education, his reverence for the outdoors, and a commitment to equity and social justice to his work on the board.
