Erika Gibson ‘86
Erika Gibson ’86 is a veterinary neurosurgeon/neuroscientist at Guardian Veterinary Specialists, where she treats brain, spinal and balance issues in animals. Gibson is the first African-American board-certified veterinary neurosurgeon. She knew at an early age that she wanted to become a veterinarian and credits her trips to the Manhattan Country School Farm with nurturing her love for both large and small animals.
Erika received a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University and is a graduate of the Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine, the only veterinary medical professional program located on the campus of a historically black college or university. She completed her residency in Veterinary Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital.
