Fundraising Events at MCS

Manhattan Country School Farm Festival   

The MCS Farm Festival is an annual street festival and community fundraising event which takes place on 96th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues every year on the third Saturday in October.  It is organized and staffed by MCS parents. Click here to see photos from the event.

The Farm Festival includes games and rides, arts and crafts, delicious home-cooked food, fresh produce from the MCS Farm, baked goods, a raffle and a unique online auction that begins a week prior to the event. A fun day for the whole family, Farm Festival is an invaluable community building event which requires the creativity, generosity and collaboration of the entire parent community. 

How you can support:

Everyone is invited to attend Farm Festival. The event takes place on the street and is open to the public. There are a variety of ways you can support this important community fundraising event:

• Purchase raffle tickets

• Bring or invite friends and family

Holiday Book Fair   

In December, Manhattan Country School hosts its Holiday Book Fair in partnership with Barnes & Noble. A percentage of the proceeds go to support MCSClick here to see photos from the event.

The annual Holiday Book Fair is organized by MCS’ 9-10s and 6th grade parents and located at the Barnes & Noble at 150 E. 86 Street between Lexington and Third Avenues. While the primary goal is fundraising, parent organizers sometimes invite special authors and illustrators for day or evening readings during the Holiday Book Fair.

How can you support?

Shop! Parents, alumni and friends are welcome to visit the book fair with their children or on their own during Barnes & Noble’s store hours (9 a.m. – 11 p.m.) to purchase books for all ages, magazines, holiday gifts, educational toys and so much more.

Big Night Out!

Big Night Out! is MCS’ annual spring benefit. The semi-formal event supports the school’s sliding-scale tuition program and features live music, dancing, dinner, our “Living the Dream” Mentor Award ceremony, and an auction. This year’s BNO! took place on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 6:30-10:30 pm at the Museum of the City of New York.

Each year, MCS honors excellence and leadership in progressive education, arts and sciences, social and environmental justice and community activism. This year, we honored the MCS Farm Faculty and Program for more than 46 years of teaching children how to live more sustainable lives.

How you can support

Anyone (over 21 years of age) is invited to attend Big Night Out! and there are a variety of ways you can support this important event: 

• Purchase a ticket to attend!
• Bid on unique and fun auction experiences
• Purchase an ad in the Program Book
• Bring a friend. Big Night Out! is a wonderful way to introduce a special friend, family member or potential supporter to the mission, successful alumni and rich diversity of the MCS community.
