Winter Assembly 2018

Wednesday, December 12, 2018

At Manhattan Country School's Winter Assembly, we celebrate Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Christmas and Three Kings Day. We invite families to join us at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 21 in the gym. Two members from each student’s family are welcome. The Winter Assembly will also be live-streamed on the Manhattan Country School Facebook page.

This year’s Winter Assembly will include holiday songs from African-American, Jewish and Christian traditions. Students will be singing in Hebrew, Spanish and Latin as well as English. Parents Michael Ulmer and Juan Ospina, friends Ivan Barenboim and Paul Harris, and teachers Jay Fung and Nassim Zerriffi will accompany our selections.

Central to the program is the Candle Lighting ceremony, which carries on an MCS tradition begun in the school's earliest years. We’re reminded that the holidays being celebrated are festivals of light—including the winter solstice—and harvest.

We look forward to seeing you there.
