MCS Fund

MCS Fund

The MCS FundBecause Manhattan Country School maintains an unparalleled commitment to economic diversity compared to independent schools nationally (75 percent vs. 22.5 percent), tuition revenue only covers approximately 70 percent of our annual operating budget. Meeting the annual budget each year depends on sustained contributions to the MCS Fund.

What Is the MCS Fund?

The MCS Fund (the new name of the MCS Annual Fund) is the school’s largest and most important fundraising effort. MCS Fund revenue—unrestricted monetary gifts that the school can use at its discretion—is applied directly to general operating expenses at MCS and the MCS Farm, including salaries, benefits and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, educational supplies for classrooms and facility maintenance. All gifts are tax-deductible and are received, recorded and acknowledged by the MCS Advancement Office.

Contributions to the MCS Fund may be made during the school’s fiscal year—July 1 to June 30. The MCS Fund appeal is mailed to the MCS community in the fall. Those seeking a tax deduction for the fiscal year ending in 2019 must make their gift by December 31, 2018; otherwise contributions can be made until June 30, 2019.
