Frequently Asked Questions

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: What gifts count toward the campaign?

Expanding Purpose: The Campaign for the Future of Manhattan Country School is a comprehensive campaign, which means that it includes gifts to The MCS Fund, as well as net income from special events and direct gifts to the campaign.
  • Q: How can I make a gift?

If you would like to make a gift to the Expanding Purpose campaign, please contact:

    Akemi Kochiyama
    Director of Advancement
    212 348-0952, ext. 283

In addition to contributions made by check or credit card, we accept stock transfers and gifts of appreciated securities. Please remember that you can take your time in making a campaign gift by considering a multi-year pledge. Visit our Ways to Give page for more details about making a gift.
  • Q: How will my gift be recognized?

All donors will be recognized in our annual report. Those who make a total gift of $25,000 or more will be eligible for collective naming opportunities.
  • Q: What makes Manhattan Country School unique?

Manhattan Country School has unparalleled purposeful and authentic diversity. Learn why this matters to MCS students, faculty, administrators and parents in this video.
  • Q: Is the MCS Fund part of the comprehensive campaign?

Yes. Expanding Purpose is a comprehensive campaign, which means it includes all gifts made to The MCS Fund from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2022. Any gift made to The MCS Fund will count toward a donor's total campaign contribution.

It is important to remember, however, that the campaign and The MCS Fund support separate and distinct areas of the school’s needs. The Expanding Purpose campaign is an intensive, multi-year fundraising effort to secure gifts and pledges to help complete building construction at 150 W 85th Street, expand the existing farm program, increase compensation for MCS faculty and staff and sustain the sliding-scale tuition program that underwrites our socioeconomic diversity. The MCS Fund supports unrestricted operating expenses and is critical to helping us meet our annual budget. Upon receipt, contributions to The MCS Fund are immediately used to meet our most pressing needs and operational expenses.

It is critical to the success of the Expanding Purpose campaign and to the continued operation of the school that The MCS Fund is included as part of one's overall campaign contribution.
