Lower School Music Teacher Susan Harris will be presenting at the 92Y Wonderplay Early Childhood Learning Conference on Friday, November 13. In her interactive workshop, titled “Teaching Social Justice and Civil Rights Through Singing and Movement,” participants will explore how to engage young children in social justice and civil rights issues in age-appropriate ways using songs, books and movement activities.
The Wonderplay conference, launched in 2007, brings together more than 900 early childhood educators, thought leaders and practitioners for a day of learning and professional development. Manhattan Country School faculty, including 4-5s Teacher Sarah Leibowits, 5-6s Assistant Teacher Anisah Moonsammy and 6-7s Assistant Teacher Reese Mason, will be attending this year’s conference.
Several MCS teachers have presented at past Wonderplay conferences, including Sarah (Baby Study and Home Visits), 4-5s Assistant Teacher Paulo Cesar Arango (Home Visits) and 6-7s Teacher Laura Swindler (Post Office).
