Manhattan Country School’s 5-6s Teacher Laleña Garcia has been selected by The Academy of Teachers to attend a master class led by Mount Holyoke College Philosophy Professor Thomas Wartenberg. Master classes offer a rare opportunity for public and private school teachers to work together and learn from a leading expert in their field.
Laleña is one of 18 educators chosen to attend “Philosophy and Children’s Literature,” hosted by The National Archives at the U.S. Custom House. While attending the April 7 class, participants will consider the way picture books express important philosophical ideas and expand their understanding of what philosophy is and the role it plays in our culture.
As a master class participant, Laleña will become a fellow of The Academy of Teachers, joining a growing cohort of New York City’s strongest educators. Congratulations, Laleña!
