Mary Trowbridge '76 recently announced that she will step down as the Lower School Director at Manhattan Country School at the end of this school year.  Mary will stay on at MCS in a part-time role as Director of Educational Outreach, serving to elevate MCS’s rich history of progressive leadership and uplift the school's public mission both within and outside the school community. 

Musa Jackson '79
was recently profiled in the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Newsletter. He speaks about his rise as a model in the '80s, his participation in the acclaimed documentary film "Summer of Soul", and his role as CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Ambassador Digital Magazine. 
 
Violinist Amelia Roosevelt '80 performed with the Repast Baroque Ensemble at Manhattan Country School on West 85th Street on October 14, 2021 and will perform again at MCS on January 27!  Amelia is a founding member of Repast, which performs regularly in New York and tours nationally. Described by The New York Times as a “virtuoso duelist,” she performs with the Carmel Bach Festival Orchestra, the Washington Bach Consort, the Aradia Ensemble, the American Classical Orchestra, and Musica Sacra. She has toured throughout Europe, Scandinavia, and South Asia with many ensembles including Musica Antiqua Köln, Concerto Köln, and La Cappella de’ Turchini. Her many recording credits include Naxos, MDG, New Classical Adventure, and MSR Records.  Fun fact: Amelia's baroque violin was made in London by Richard Duke in 1773. Katharine Garrison '81 recently edited the documentary film "Refuge," which had its world premiere at DOCNYC Film Festival in November.  "Refuge" is a story about fear and love in the American South. A leader in a white nationalist hate group finds healing from the people he once hated - a Muslim heart doctor and his town of refugees. The film was honored with a 2021 DOC NYC Jury Award: “We give an honorable mention to "Refuge" for addressing one of the US’s most urgent problems – the lack of civil dialogue, or any dialogue, between our warring cultural factions.” 

Hellura Lyle ‘81 moderated a special "Summer of Soul" screening with Musa Jackson '79 at MCS in December. For most of the last decade, she has focused on programming documentary films. She also  serves as an EEO Investigator for the City of New York. After graduating with honors from Wesleyan University with a BA in American Studies, Hellura worked freelance in film, television, theater and video production in New York City and Los Angeles for more than 20 years. 

Last August, Malikkah Rollins '81 was appointed Director of Industry & Education at DOC NYC, America's largest documentary festival. A member of the festival’s core leadership team, Rollins is leading the expansion of the festival’s mission to develop filmmaker careers and become a global destination for the documentary industry to congregate. She oversees initiatives such as the DOC NYC PRO Conference and Only In New York meetings for works-in-progress. She also supervises online education programs that the festival runs year-round for a global audience and industry-facing initiatives such as Documentary New Leaders and 40 Under 40.  In November, Malikkah joined MCS classmates Hellura Lyle '81, a documentary film programmer, and Katharine Garrison '81, a documentary film editor, on a DOC NYC Pro Panel during the DOC NYC Festival. 

Mara Washburn' 84 reported that she came across a "Snap Judgement" podcast episode about MCS teacher Chris Iijima and his partner singer Nobuko "JoAnne" Miyamoto receiving a call from Yoko Ono and John Lennon to appear on TV in 1972! Adam Green '87 and his organization Rocking the Boat were featured in The New York Times article "Maya Lin's Dismantled 'Ghost Forest' to be Reborn as Boats" about how the artist's acclaimed work will take on a new life at the non-profit that teaches New York City youth about the great outdoors through sailing and boat building. The 49 white cedars at the heart of the artist’s exhibit in Madison Square Park was donated to Rocking the Boat in order be turned into planking material for five student-built boats.

Nate Levy '02 appeared on the December 30th episode of Jeapardy!  He is currently a script coordinator in Los Angeles. 

Kira Felsenfeld '11 has been appointed the Director of Development and Strategy at Tenant Education Network, a nonprofit startup that is attempting to organize Project Based Section 8 tenants across the country around better conditions and political power. She will oversee some sides of organizational growth and manage the entire fundraising process. 

Artwork from Becca Luna-Leibowits '12 is included on The Artist Lives, a website dedicated to the work of visual and performing artists who have passed away.  Becca was a talented artist who studied at the Pratt Institute. View her work here
