Sunday, March 29, 2020

The last few weeks have been filled with COVID-19 updates occurring on a nearly hourly basis. While we may not be returning to 85th street tomorrow, we will "return to school" via MCS en Casa, our distance learning plan. On Friday, you received program information and guidelines from Michèle and the division directors. Today, you will receive an update from classroom teachers and/or advisors. In the coming weeks, as we navigate MCS en Casa, we will update the website here with resources and information. If you have any general questions at this time please let us know

At MCS, we are fortunate to be a part of a community that lifts one another up. This week, Nurse Stephanie, with help from Jamie and Amanda donated boxes of masks to a local hospital. I encourage you to take this time to lean into your MCS family and share with us your stories of resilience. Now more than ever, we need to take care of one another.

During this time, Nuestra Semana will include updates on COVID-19 from 85th Street and the Farm, as well as resources for MCS en Casa and other support. While we navigate these difficult times, photos are a source of happiness and can keep us connected. Please share any photos of your families at home engaging in distance learning and we will share them on social media and in future issues of Nuestra Semana. Until then, here is a photo from before break to celebrate our Girls' Varsity Basketball Team.

Let’s continue to keep everyone in our hearts, check in on one another and we will continue to keep you updated.

Dear MCS Families, I’ve thought of you many times these last two weeks as we have undergone such an abrupt transformation of our lives. New York City is a whole new experience. The kind of love and connection that our diverse community knows is possible has taken on new meaning.  Read more
The announcement that Manhattan Country School will be closed until April 20 due to the directive of NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio to combat the spread of Covid-19 has shaken our school community. The MCS Farm and our local Catskill Mountain community might appear somewhat removed from the so-called “hot spots”of this pandemic, however it still has its effects. Read more
