Last week, Michèle Solá announced that she would retire as director of Manhattan Country School in 2020. MCS student activists recently met with New York State Assemblymember Daniel J. O'Donnell to advocate for strong and urgent action on climate change. This discussion included the climate and community protection act which O’Donnell co-sponsored, and to thank him for his work. They emphasized the importance of prioritizing frontline communities in the state’s effort to address pollution and invest in a green future. They also gave him a t-shirt with their logo, which he said he would wear when he signs the bill. Read more
“Scissor Madness” was the title for the 9th edition of MCS Community Math Night, which was held last Thursday. On Thursday, April 25, MCS families brought in their “good scissors” to experience mathematics which featured cutting, folding, stapling, taping and fitting together. The exhibits ranged from “Instant Insanity,” where families created a 4 cube puzzle that has 42,000 permutations, only one of which was correct. Read more
  Sing-along/Tertulia Miercoles, 8 de Mayo, 9:15 a.m. Dating back to 17th century Spain, a tertulia is a gathering of people united by a common interest. These intellectual and cultural gatherings were initially held in private homes, later in cafés and schools.  At Manhattan Country School, we gather to share games, art, examples of student activism, poetry, laughter and music. Families of 4-5s through 7-8s: Join your children, Susan and MariaTere at the combined Sing-along/Tertulia to celebrate the Spanish and music programs. Read more

City Camp is Manhattan Country School's summer program for MCS students in the 4-5s through 9-10s, including new Lower School students joining the school in the fall. During City Camp, students broaden their MCS experience by being immersed in fun and engaging activities aligned with the school’s mission and values. Read more
