With the reliance on GPS technology and the mapping capabilities of our smart phones, many people have lost the ability to figure out how to get from point A to point B on their own. Folk tales are abundant with tips for finding one’s way. “Moss always grows on the north side of a tree” is one of the more popular legends. In fact, moss grows best in the shade and will grow completely around trees in a thick forest. “Follow a stream downhill to civilization” is another. However, what if that stream leads you in the opposite direction you hoped to go? Read more
Still Life Elective
The Upper School held its first assembly of the school year on October 26, 2017. The focus of the gathering of fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders was a curriculum share. November 2017 Parents' Council Meeting Manhattan Country School's Parents' Council met on November 6, 2017. In this short meeting (45 minutes) we spoke about three different topics: support for students with learning challenges, The MCS Fund and collecting holiday/end-of-year gifts for teachers and staff. We are piloting a Winter CSA at Manhattan Country School this year to connect our community more directly with local healthy produce. The Winter CSA box share is $180 for six half-bushel boxes of vegetables. Read more
