This month, Manhattan Country School hosted four teachers from MiSK Schools in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as part of an exchange program that also included an additional three MiSK teachers at Bank Street School for Children. MCS’ participation in this program is one example of how the school fulfills a public mission that includes educating teachers-in-training from area colleges and hosting visitors from schools across the country and the world. Manhattan Country School’s Big Night Out! Online Auction opens Monday, April 23 at 8 a.m. and runs until 10 p.m. Saturday, April 28. You will have the opportunity to bid on an eclectic selection of travel, foodie and cultural experiences, sports tickets and more. 2018 Community Math Night
The eighth annual Manhattan Country School Community Math Night, an event where MCS families can experience the wonders and challenges of mathematics together, was themed around our school building, with all its interesting and sometimes puzzling features. Visitors could go on a scavenger hunt, searching our shared spaces for all kinds of unique shapes, including an irregular dodecahedron (that is, a 12-sided polygon where all the sides are not equal), tessellating diamonds and odd combinations of circles, rectangles and triangles that form light switches, radiator covers and towel dispensers.  Read more
Tertulia Viernes, 27 de abril, 9:15 a.m. Dating back to 17th century Spain, a tertulia is a gathering of people united by a common interest. These intellectual and cultural gatherings were initially held in private homes, later in cafés and schools.  Read more

We kicked off the April Parents' Council meeting in a profoundly beautiful way: Flannery and Nassim and eighth-grade representatives previewed this year's activism project. The eighth-graders will be fighting against domestic violence and in support of healthy relationships. They will be collecting goods for a shelter that serves domestic violence victims. They will be traveling to Albany to lobby. To support this three-day trip, they're asking for donations. Read more
