On Thursday, the girls varsity basketball team defeated Stephen Gaynor School to win the American International Private School League B Division championship for the second year in a row. The boys varsity team will take on St. Ignatius in the semifinals on Monday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m. at Loyola High School.

On Tuesday, February 27, 2018, Manhattan Country School’s two 5-6s classes celebrated the 100th Day of School. This annual observance showcases the students’ creativity and developing math skills. Read more
Sixth-Graders Learn the Science Behind Making Maple Syrup
Sugaring, syruping or, as most say in the Catskills, sapping are terms used to describe the process of making authentic maple syrup. I say authentic as most grocery stores are flooded with “maple syrup” brands filled with high fructose corn syrup and flavoring. Read more
Manhattan Country School Director Michèle Solá is among the 150-plus heads of independent schools in New York City and across New York State who have signed an open letter to the president and the country’s lawmakers against gun violence. Read more
Manhattan Country School has added basketball player and activist Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir to its 2018 Living the Dream Mentor Award honoree line up. Bilqis will join Harris Friess ’98 and Lyle Friess ’00, co-executive directors of Brooklyn Youth Sports Club, and Jermaine Lloyd, founder of Back 2 Basics Academy, at Big Night Out!, Saturday, April 28, 2018, to receive the award. Believe it or not, allergy season has already begun. Spring allergens were in the air as of last week, and I have seen some students with eye symptoms already. Read more
Project Cicero
Project Cicero is an annual nonprofit book drive designed to create and supplement classroom libraries in under-resourced New York City public schools. Under the leadership of seventh-grade parent Carrie, Manhattan Country School will be collecting book donations in the school lobby between March 5 and 8. Read more
MCS Fund Tracker
We are thankful for the many ways parents support Manhattan Country School—whether it’s through volunteer help, in-kind donations or monetary gifts. Gifts to The MCS Fund are applied directly to day-to-day operating expenses at MCS and the MCS Farm, including salaries, benefits and professional development opportunities for faculty and staff; educational supplies for classrooms; and facility maintenance.
