Girls Varsity Basketball Championships
For the first time in Manhattan Country School history both the girls and boys varsity basketball teams made it to the American International Private School League championship finals. The girls varsity team played The Mandell School on Thursday. Their 36-2 win earned them the title of AIPSL B division champions. Read more
Handwashing Experiment
In the first couple months of this year, a significant number of Manhattan Country School students and staff members were out sick. A nasty bug was going around. With so many in the community affected, School Nurse Katie Patterson and Lower School Science Teacher Olivia Kurz decided to team up to educate students about effective handwashing to prevent the spread of illness-inducing germs and bacteria. 6-7s Post Office
The 6-7s would like to invite you to participate in our study of the post office. The 6-7s will be operating a post office right here at MCS from Friday, March 10 through Friday, April 7. You can buy your very own MCS stamps, handmade postcards and envelopes in the lobby or the third floor flex space every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.We are not open on Wednesdays. 2017 Community Basketball Game
Just ahead of the mid-winter break, Manhattan Country School students, parents, faculty, staff and alumni gathered at the 92nd Street Y for this year's Community Basketball Game. In front of bleachers filled with cheering fans, a team in red and a team in blue competed for the title of winner of this annual community-building event. Read more
ACL Injury Prevention Workshop
On Thursday, February 16 members of the Manhattan Country School community gathered to learn about anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and practice a series of exercises to help prevent this common injury. The workshop was given by a professional team of physical therapists from the Hospital for Special Surgery, led by AJ Pegno. The students were especially impressed to learn that our presenters have treated some of the famous athletes who have suffered ACL injuries. Read more
2017 Community Math Night
Manhattan Country School's annual Community Math Night is Thursday, March 9. The theme this year is food! We’re going to be sampling cookies with different proportions of ingredients and voting for the best one, seeing how many different tacos we can make with different ingredients, playing the “fraction pizza game” and mixing the best tasting orange-cranberry juice. Project Cicero
Project Cicero is an annual nonprofit book drive designed to create and supplement classroom libraries in under-resourced New York City public schools. Under the leadership of sixth-grade parent Carrie, Manhattan Country School will be collecting book donations in the school lobby between March 6 and 9. Read more
