Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative March - CHANGING THE SYSTEM: Marching Toward Justice On Monday, January 21, 2019, Manhattan Country School eighth-graders will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by taking to the streets of Upper Manhattan to speak out about what they consider to be the most pressing civil rights issues of their time. Christina Wilson just released her first book "Chest Confessions", her compelling story as a 32 year-old woman who had a thriving career, social life, and happy marriage when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. Her life was suddenly turned upside down. Christina very candidly shares her journey of the years-long misdiagnosis, shockingly due to the medical industry discriminating against her young age. Christina manages to find her own means of healing both physically and emotionally. She shares how she rebuilds her body, life and successful businesses. Read more
Matthew Schwartz '77, President & CEO of California Housing Partnership Corporation, has expressed optimism about the state of affordable housing in California and is helping to bring more safe and affordable homes and services to California's lower income families, seniors, homeless and disabled. Bilal Hill '85, Esq. of The Hill Group was a recent recipient of the Peter J. Biondi Community Service Award at the Soaring to New Heights event. He was honored for his exceptional service in supporting Safe+Sound Somerset's mission to empower survivors of domestic abuse and engage the community to break the cycle of violence. Read more

A huge thank you to all of the alumni, former parents and staff who attended our annual Alumni Breakfast and Tour in December. It was a heart-warming reunion that included a tour of the our West 85th Street building for those who have not yet seen it. The morning culminated with the standing-room-only Winter Assembly, where current MCS students performed a range of songs. Enjoy these photos from the event. Read more
On Friday, December 21, Manhattan Country School students, families and staff gathered for our annual Winter Assembly. To celebrate the winter solstice, students sang holiday songs from African-American, Jewish and Christian traditions in Swahili, Hebrew, Spanish, Yiddish and Latin, as well as English. Ivan Barenboim (clarinet), Paul Harris (flute), current parents Michael Ulmer (djembe) and Juan Ospina (bass guitar), and Nehemiah Luckett (piano) accompanied the selections. Read more
