Welcome to the first issue of Noticias de los Exalumnos de MCS (MCS Alumni News), Manhattan Country School’s new digital newsletter for MCS alumni and their parents. This publication will be your main source for MCS news, upcoming events, Alumni Association announcements, alumni features, volunteer opportunities and more. It will arrive in your inbox about once per month. Steven Melendez ‘01 is a world-class dancer at New York Theatre Ballet. He started his ballet training as part of the LIFT Scholarship Program at Ballet School New York at the age of 7. Project LIFT offers full or partial scholarships to approximately 30 children per year to study at Ballet School New York. In addition to professional dance training, supporters of Project LIFT provided Melendez with private education—first at MCS and later at the Professional Children’s School. He continued his studies at the School of American Ballet and attended summer intensive programs with the San Francisco Ballet Academy, Houston Ballet Academy and Kaatsbaan International School.
