Happy Fall everyone!  Our school nurse, Stephanie Bloom, and I have been working closely to keep track of student allergies and food preferences.  We are doing what we can to provide a well-balanced meal that provides enough options for all students to have enough to eat each day.  Unfortunately, it is not possible to accommodate every allergy and preference in our community. There are several foods to which some of our students are allergic; including eggs, sesame, soy, dairy, gluten and... Read More

Farm Festival would not be possible without you. Here are the many ways parents contribute to making it a success: Volunteer for a Shift: Sign up for (at least) one time slot to help at the event. This year, we are running the sign ups differently than in the past and hope that it will be easier for you. Simply sign up for a time slot that works for you and check in at the volunteer table when you arrive at Farm Festival. You may request to do a particular job as... Read More

At the end of each school year, Manhattan Country School faculty and staff are given a “suggested reading list,” from which they can choose a book to read, to enhance their knowledge of some area of education, social justice or one of many issues relating to race and gender. During the first few years, I used to read one of these books, and thoroughly enjoyed them. This year, I decided to choose my own book, or, as is often the case, the book “chooses me.” While listening to the local public... Read More

Greetings MCS families! First, I’d like to invite you to drop by and say hello. And if you’re new to MCS, please come and introduce yourself. I’m going to make this initial entry for Nuestra Semana a brief one since there’s always more to come from the library. Speaking of more, your children come to visit the library once per week. It is important that they are responsible for the book(s) they borrow. Please help support them to get their books back in time for their next library visit.... Read More

Farm Festival would not be possible without MCS parents - whether it’s volunteering your time, donating and soliciting items for the event, raffle or auction, spreading the word about the event, or attending. You will hear about all of the ways Farm Festival depends on our school community in the coming weeks. For now, let's focus on some of the areas that bring in the most revenue. Raffle By now, all families should have received a raffle packet. If not, check inside your child’s backpack. ... Read More
