Manhattan Country School’s annual benefit to support its sliding-scale tuition model has unfortunately been postponed.
Each year at Big Night Out!, we honor individuals who demonstrate excellence and leadership in progressive education, arts and sciences, social and environmental justice, and community activism with our Living the Dream Mentor Award. While we may not be able to celebrate in person, this year we are pleased to honor MCS Director Michèle Solá for 23 years of visionary leadership and dedication to Manhattan Country School. We are also celebrating the 50th anniversary of our sliding-scale tuition program. This unique model, developed by Frank Roosevelt in 1969, gives families the opportunity to educate their children in an economically, racially and culturally diverse community. However, tuition payments only cover 70% of our annual operating costs, so we depend on the generosity of individuals and organizations who believe in the importance of MCS’ core values of diversity, equity, social justice and sustainability to bridge the gap.
