Leslie Watkins-Cain attended American University and the City College of New York. She is co-owner of the NYC based film and post-production company New Renaissance Productions and has produced documentaries for over a decade. Previously, Leslie worked in Marketing Services for Hearst Publications at Diversion and Cosmopolitan magazine. Leslie and her husband, Lance Cain, are the proud parents of a student in the class of 2022. At Manhattan Country School she has served as MCS Farm Festival Co-Chair in 2013, 7-8s Class Representative in 2015, and Parent Association Co-President from 2015 - 2017. As PA President Leslie conceived and produced the series of MCS’ Parent Led Forums beginning with the screening and panel discussion of the Ava Duvernay documentary “13th.” Helping to organize MCS family attendance at the 2017 Women’s March on Washington, she created the google group “Channels of Engagement” an online community space where MCS parents organize and share community events and political actions. She remains the site administrator to date.
In 2017 Leslie joined the MCS board in the Parent Rep role. In addition she has enjoyed the role of Manhattan Country School Representative to the Parents League of New York. In February of 2019 she joined the host committee for the School-to-Farm Supper fundraising event and helped organize and emcee Gelernt Mentoring Grant Recipient Janice Movson's documentary screening, panel discussion and art exhibition “Intersections”. Leslie stepped down from the board of Every Voice Choirs at Teachers College when she joined the MCS board as a trustee in 2017. She has previously served as a member of the Committee on Trustees and the Search Committee. Leslie currently chairs the board Advancement Committee and is a member on the board Executive Committee.
