Interactive learning through singing and music is a vibrant element in Manhattan Country School’s curriculum and school culture. On any given day you will find music present in our hallways, classrooms, assemblies, during Afterschool classes and even on the MCS Farm where students learn about the regional musical traditions.
Children of all ages express themselves through music which has lifelong benefits. MCS cultivates a tradition of singing, songwriting and music as a vital component of our community.
A December winter assembly will draw on holiday and winter solstice musical traditions. The Martin Luther King, Jr. assemblies in January draw on the musical legacy of freedom songs associated with the civil rights movement and with freedom movements more generally.
