Friday, June 3, 2016

Twenty-eight Manhattan Country School students from the 7-8s, 8-9s and 9-10s had the honor of performing at Thursday night’s Sackler Center First Awards at the Brooklyn Museum. The students opened the program with two songs: “We Shall Overcome” and “Siyahamba.”

The Sackler Center First Awards honors women who are first in their fields and have broken barriers. This year’s recipient was activist Angela Y. Davis, a vocal champion in the fight for economic, racial and gender justice who is renowned for her ongoing work to combat oppression in the United States and abroad.
