MCS Nut Policy

MCS Nut Policy

Sunday, October 13, 2019

MCS is a nut-aware school and due to the high number of nut allergies in our community, we request that all food brought into MCS be NUT FREE. The best way to determine if foods are nut-free is to read the label since brands should have a warning statement or allergen list.

Be on the look-out for ingredients such as peanut oil, gluten free flours, non dairy milk, nut butters and nutella as they are often used in treats.

Be aware of phrases like these:

  • “May Contain Peanut or Tree Nuts.”
  • “Processed on shared equipment with Peanuts or Tree Nuts.”
  • “Manufactured in a plant with Peanut or Tree Nuts.”
  • “Contains Peanut or Tree Nut Ingredients.”

Local bakeries such as Baked by Melissa, Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Cream, Amy's, Magnolia, Babycakes and Make my Cake either contain nut ingredients or are processed in a facility with nuts. Therefore snacks from these bakeries cannot be brought into school. Should you have questions or need a suggestion for an alternative please reach out.
