Join Us November 23 For Our Thanksgiving Assembly
This year’s Thanksgiving Assembly is a community event. We invite families to join us at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23. (Two members from each student’s family are welcome.)
This year’s assembly includes a celebration of our new home on 85th Street. Class projects illustrating the hands-on ways students were introduced to the building will be on display. Songs in the program, including “Home” and “Woven as One,” offer a musical tribute.
Giving thanks will also be a strong focus of the gathering. Our student class reps, organized by MCS Director Michèle Solá, will perform a choral reading that incorporates quotes from all grades about what gratitude means to them. Students will sing “Aya Ngena,” a Zulu song of welcome, “For the Beauty of the Earth” and “This Land Is Your Land.”
Photographing and Filming Assemblies
MCS assemblies, including the Thanksgiving assembly, will be videotaped and photographed by MCS and made available to MCS families for their own use. We hope this will allow you to put down your recording devices and engage in the program. If you still feel compelled to film or photograph, we ask that you do so for your own personal record and refrain from sharing on social media. There are some families in the MCS community who do not want pictures or videos of their children shared on these platforms.
We look forward to sharing our Thanksgiving celebration with you.
