Parents’ Visiting Day at Manhattan Country School is an opportunity for families to come to their children’s classrooms and experience our progressive education curriculum first hand. This Tuesday, the school was filled with grownups who had the chance to be students again for a morning.
In classrooms, parents formed semi-circles around their children as they gathered for their morning meetings. Visitors to the 5-6s class participated in building and reading activities. 6-7s parents read stories, helped their children with writing activities and joined them in playing games. Fifth-grade guests accompanied their children to gym class and participated in math and social studies activities. And parents of Fifth Floor students sat in on chorus and observed English, history and science discussions.
These are just some examples of how parents’ time was spent at MCS on Parents’ Visiting Day. Below are some photo highlights from the morning. Additional photos from the day can be viewed in the 2015 Parents’ Visiting Day Photo Gallery.
