Filmmaker and Friend of MCS, Yoruba Richen, to Host Upper School Assembly

Sunday, January 19, 2020

Please join us on Tuesday, February 4 at 9:00 a.m. for the Upper School Assembly with filmmaker and friend of MCS, Yoruba Richen. Yoruba is a documentary filmmaker whose work has been featured on PBS, "New York Times" Op Doc, "Frontline Digital", "New York Magazine’s The Cut", "The Atlantic" and "Field of Vision". Her latest film “The Green Book: Guide to Freedom” aired on The Smithsonian Channel in February 2019. Longtime friend of the MCS community (childhood friend of alum Akemi Kochiyama ’85 and Jenny Arons ‘86), she is thrilled to present her work addressing social justice through film to our students. Yoruba is also a product of progressive independent institutions (Towne School, Brown University). Fun fact: MCS founder Gus Trowbridge and Upper School director Maiya Jackson are also graduates of Brown!

We hope you can join us on February 4.

Listen to Yoruba’s TED talk about overlaps between gay rights and civil rights movements.
