Admissions Process

Admissions Process

The admissions team at Manhattan Country School will work with each family to guide them through the admissions process. To help you familiarize yourself with the process, all the admissions steps and details are outlined below.

Step 1: Schedule a Visit

4-5s and 5-6s (Pre-K and K)

Families applying to the 4-5s and 5-6s for the 2020 - 2021 school year are invited to register for morning tours. To sign up for a tour,  please submit an Inquiry Form.

Step 2: Submit an Application

Applications for the 2020-2021 school year are now available. You can submit an application here. Should the application fee present a hardship for your family, please contact the Admissions Office.

4-5s and 5-6s (Pre-K and K)

Applications for the 4-5s or 5-6s are due by December 1. We encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.

6-7s (First Grade) Through Seventh Grade

We encourage families of older applicants to submit their applications by December 1.

Step 3: Attend a Playgroup Session or Interview

4-5s and 5-6s (Pre-K and K)

Each child will be invited to attend a playgroup. Playgroups will be scheduled in November/December and, for our youngest applicants, into early January. Adults will meet together informally with a member of the administration while their children are engaged in a small playgroup with members of the admissions committee. Only one adult is required to attend.

6-7s (First Grade) Through Seventh Grade

Step 4: Request a School Report

If your child is in a school setting (nursery, preschool, daycare, co-op, etc.), please speak to your child’s current school director about submitting a confidential school report. These forms are due by January 8, 2020 for the 4-5s and 5-6s.

Step 5: Complete the Family Financial Worksheet

In our tuition sliding-scale model, all families submit a confidential Family Financial Worksheet (FFW) to determine their tuition. Please note a deposit of 25% is due shortly after acceptance and families can choose from three different payment plans.

Please scan and e-mail the FFW to admissions@manhattancountryschool.org. If you prefer, you are welcome to mail the form to us.

We encourage you to contact the Admissions Office with any questions regarding tuition or the FFW.

Step 6: Standardized Assessments

MCS does not require standardized testing assessments for applicants to the Lower School (4-5s through 9-10s).

There are testing requirements for children applying to the Upper School (fifth through eighth grade).
