Staff News: Nehemiah Luckett Joins MCS as Piano Accompanist

Nehemiah LuckettWe are pleased to announce that Nehemiah Luckett has joined Manhattan Country School in the role of piano accompanist.

Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, Nehemiah began singing in choirs at the age of five. He attended Sarah Lawrence College and the City College of New York and has been leading and accompanying choirs for more than 20 years. He is currently the composer in residence and assistant director of music at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tuckahoe, New York.

Nehemiah describes himself as a “defender of justice and equality.” As music director for Reverend Billy and The Stop Shopping Choir, he has been involved in environmental activism. He also serves on the board of MIND (Methodists in New Directions), working for full inclusion of LGBTQ members of the United Methodist Church.
