Manhattan Country School Director Michèle Solá recently spoke with Alina Adams, host of the Secrets of NYC Schools podcast, to discuss the school’s sliding-scale tuition program. In the 10-minute interview, Michèle explains the philosophy behind our sliding-scale tuition model. Instead of each family paying for the cost of educating their own child, each family is an equal participant in affording the cost of educating all children at MCS. She also discusses how the sliding-scale model
came to be at MCS, why the term “financial aid” is not a part of the our vocabulary, how sliding-scale tuition reflects and supports our mission, and why the school operates on a trust system when it comes to reporting income. We invite you to listen to the interview, which begins at 6:26 in the above video.
