MCS City Camp Update: Touring the Intrepid and more!

MCS City Camp, Manhattan Country School’s first-ever day camp, had an incredible first week. Rising 4-5s through 8-9s participated in a variety of activities that created opportunities for them to appreciate New York City, get to know each other, and have fun! The week started off with kids thinking about their favorite things about New York City and designing watercolor paintings to represent their ideas. City Campers drew their favorite restaurants, Times Square, Central Park, and even their own houses. Kids were able to spend time on MCS’ rooftop garden harvesting chives, planting peas, and weeding and watering plants. They visited Central Park multiple times to play group games and spend time in the sprinklers. City Camp also took trips to Lasker Pool, the Museum of Natural History, and the Intrepid. After a week of exploring Manhattan, City Campers are looking forward to investigating other boroughs of New York City in the next two weeks. – By Debbie Weiss, Teacher
