Agenda 10.24.2017

Trustees,

A reminder that tomorrow is Farm Festival.  It is a great way to raise awareness of the school, introduce new families and potential donors to the school, and have a great time.  I hope to see you all there.

Tuesday night we have our second board meeting.  We will get a brief update on how successful Farm Festival was along with many of the other exciting things that are happening at MCS.  In addition, we will spend some time reviewing our Mission and Vision statement in preparation for NYSAIS.  As part of the discussion, I will ask each of you to fill out 3 index cards.  On the front of each card you will indicate one thing that should be in either statement.  On the back you will indicate why it should be.  I will hand out the cards during dinner so that we can have them completed before the meeting starts.  Please take the time to think about our Mission and Vision statements (see below) so that we can have an involved and thoughtful discussion.

Regards,

Michael

Mission Statement

Reflecting the vision of the Civil Rights Movement, Manhattan Country School teaches students in a community with no racial majority and broad economic diversity. Our goals for students are academic excellence, intellectual freedom, social awareness, self-confidence and first-hand knowledge of the natural world. MCS is unique among New York City independent schools in having a 180-acre working farm integral to the curriculum and a sliding scale for tuition.

Vision

Manhattan Country School envisions its students as future leaders whose shared experiences in learning and activism inspire them to champion excellence and justice, compassion and peace, and the rights of all people to racial, economic, environmental and educational equity.
