LETTER TO PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES
Dear Prospective MCS Family,
We appreciate your interest in Manhattan Country School. We look forward to meeting you and your child.
A visit to MCS is an ideal way to see the school in action and is considered an important part of the application process. One of the most important steps of the Admissions process is parent/guardian attendance at a morning school tour or evening Open House. Tours are on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9:15 am beginning in late September and continuing through the first week of December. The Open House is scheduled for October 20th at 6:30 pm. Please call the Office of Admissions to schedule a visit as soon as possible.
Should you decide to apply, we recommend that you submit the application, along with the non-refundable $70 fee and complete your visit to the school as early as possible. You may submit your application before or after your tour or open house visit. We try to interview every child whose application is complete by the December 1st deadline. Applications received after the deadline will only be given consideration if there are openings in a specific class. Please complete the attached Family Financial Worksheet no later than January 15th and return it to the Director of Admissions, Lois Gelernt. The application is not considered complete until we receive the Worksheet.
You will see the Release Form along with the Confidential Teacher Reference Form attached to the application. The Confidential School Form and cover letter should be given to your child's school director or teacher and returned by them to Manhattan Country School by January 15. If your child's school is an ISAAGNY school, they will have the form to fill out.
Parents/Guardians of children applying to second grade and above need to make arrangements with the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) for the necessary standardized testing. Although the ERB is not required for younger children, we ask to have results sent to MCS if a child takes the exam. The ERB phone number is (212)672-9800 and Web site is www.erbtest.org.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Admissions with any questions about the application process. We look forward to meeting with you when you visit MCS.
Sincerely,
Lois Gelernt
