HOW TO APPLY

We do everything we can at Manhattan Country School to make the application process as transparent as possible.
If you’re considering the school for your child, please note the application procedures below:
Step 1: Schedule a School Visit
Prospective parents must attend either a morning tour of the school or our evening Open House in order to be considered.
Step 2: Submit an Application Form
There is a non-refundable application fee of $50, and applications must be received by December 1st. You may call to request an application packet via mail. Alternatively, the application is available for download from September to December 1.
Your competed application package should include:
1. Application
2. A report from your child’s current school (if the child has previous school experience)
3. ERB for students in 2nd grade and above (If a child younger than 2nd grade is taking the ERB, we ask that you send the scores to us as well)
4. A tour of the school
5. A Family Financial Worksheet (FFW) (sent to families when application is received)
Step 3: Schedule an Interview for Your Child
Once your application is received, we will call to schedule an interview for your child. Student interviews take place in small groups for 4, 5, and 6 year olds. Parents will meet together informally with a member of the administration while their children are being interviewed. Applicants for 7-8s (2nd grade) through 7th grade are interviewed individually and are accepted on a rolling basis when spaces are available.
Step 4: Complete the Family Financial Worksheet (FFW)
A Family Financial Worksheet provides the basis for determining a tuition contract. All families complete one when applying and annually thereafter. These are mailed separately from the application form after the application is received. The FFW is at the core of our commitment to economic diversity. It replaces set tuitions and scholarships/financial aid with a Contracted Fee calculated for each family on a sliding scale in equitable proportion to families' financial resources.
Step 5: Educational Records Bureau (ERB) Test
The ERB Test is only required for applicants entering 7-8s (2nd grade) through 8th grade. For younger children it is not required, although families are asked to send us results if children have been tested. Applicants should make arrangements to take the appropriate grade level test by calling ERB at (212) 672-9800 or visiting www.erbtest.org. Fee waivers are available from the admissions office after we receive your application.
