PARENTS

Parents play a pivotal and active role within our community. We value the diversity of the parent body as much as that of the student body, and we welcome and rely on parental involvement in everything from homework to fundraising.

Within the Curriculum
First and foremost, parents are involved within the curriculum itself. They share family stories, take part in dialogue about curricular topics, and may even serve as classroom participants. Teachers welcome parents on class trips, and parents also have the option of visiting the farm on Farm Outing Day.

In each grade, two Parent Class Representatives volunteer for 1-year terms. They communicate regularly with the teacher, coordinate meetings and class potluck dinners, and often write for the parent newsletter.

Parents’ Association
All Manhattan Country School parents are members of our Parents’ Association, whose mission is to ensure a well-informed, involved parent body. Parents’ Association Committees organize fundraising events, support programmatic development, and educate the community when they have expertise or interest.

In the Words of a Parent

“I cried through most of last Friday’s assembly. I guess most of it was to see such young people who are so conscious and aware of our past & present and so ready to do their part (small or big) in making a difference in our future… How could they not, with the experiences they've had for the past 10 years? What other school produces young people like this?”
